Hofstra
University School of Law Sports and Entertainment Law Society
|
|
During the 2004-2005 school year, the members of the
Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS) made an effort to
revive a journal that existed at Hofstra Law School during the
1980s. The original journal was entitled the Copyright and
Entertainment Law Digest, and was published for only a
few years. Upon speaking with one of the original founders,
Attorney Vinca Jarrett, the members of the SELS decided to attempt
to publish the Digest
again.
The SELS members view the new Digest
as part revival and part new. We have changed the name of the Digest and
expanded its scope. The Digest
is now entitled the Sports
and Entertainment Law Digest, and covers a variety of
legal issues that may arise in either of these industries, such as
tort liability, contract issues and intellectual property
considerations.

Stanford
Entertainment and Sports Law Association
|
|
SESLA is a student-run organization dedicated to
providing information, career support, and camaraderie for students
interested in entertainment and sports industry careers. Our
primary objective is to supplement the intellectual property and
employment law offerings available at Stanford Law School by
educating students in the specific legal principles and transactional
aspects of entertainment and sports law. In addition, SESLA gives
students a forum in which they can meet, exchange ideas, and learn
about the entertainment and sports fields through interaction with
prominent attorneys, executives, agents, managers, professors, and
artists. Providing such an opportunity to meet entertainment and
sports law professionals is vital to exposing Stanford students to
an area of law that they typically do not encounter due to their
Northern California location. SESLA seeks to achieve its goals by
arranging monthly luncheons that are open to the entire law school
and feature speakers from fields as diverse as film, television,
music, sports, art, advertising, and interactive media.
